Hong Kong Customs officers from Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau(IPIB),Airport Command and Intelligence Bureau,with the assistance of a cargo express company,on June 17 cracked the largest-ever case of exporting by cargo express pirate

They seized a total of 28793 pirated disks and 4952 pieces of counterfeit goods, worth about $1.13 million.

Based on intelligence obtained by the intelligence Bureau, officers of the Airport Command seized 8677 pirated disks and 1240 pieces of Counterfeit goods, worth about $300000.

In follow-up investigation, IPIB officers arrested a 17-year-old man at a company in Kwun Tong when the latter was handing over a batch of parcels for cargo express delivery to an IPIB officer posing as an express staff. The parcels covered 20116 pirated disks and 3712 pieces of counterfeit goods.

Initial investigation showed that the company had been engaged in logistics business for about half a year.

The seized goods were suspected to be imported from Shenzhen in the Mainland, iand intended to be exported to overseas countries, including US, UK and Belgium.
